Name:Roger Davies
Website:Euphoria Lane
Bio:Name: Roger Evan Davies
Birthday: February 26, 1978 (age 26).
Blood: Pure-ish. There's Muggle blood in the family here and there, but they mostly marry wizards.
Former house: Ravenclaw, 1989-1996

Sexual orientation: Oh so very heterosexual.
Marital Status: Dating Lila Moon.

Nationality: English/Welsh. Welsh parents, but he was born and grew up in Shropshire
Hometown: Ludlow, Shropshire
Residence: (must be a flat & bldg # in Euphoria Lane)

Occupation: Quidditch Journalist. Has a regular column (The Davies Report) in Quidditch Monthly, but also does a lot of freelance work.
Financial Status: Comfortable. Not wildly wealthy, but he has only himself and his dog to support, so he does well enough.
Political Affiliation: The Good Guys. Worked with the quickly-trained Aurors during the war, then moved on into journalism when that was over.

Social stereotype: The Reformed Rake

Personality:
Ohhhhh, so arrogant! Not only is he good-looking and knows it, he's also clever and knows it. Roger does not have self-esteem issues. He's pretty confident that he is intelligent, charming, and handsome, and that there is no reason everyone he meets shouldn't like him. As a result, he's quite outgoing—it never occurs to him that people wouldn't want to be his friends.

Unfortunately, this also leads to him being a bit self-centered. It's not that Roger has bad intentions…he seldom deliberately sets out to hurt and upset people he likes (though he doesn't much care about the feelings of people he doesn't like). It's just that most of Roger's actions are for the immediate or eventual good of Roger, and he doesn't often consider the consequences these actions might have for other people. He's gotten better about this stuff in the past year or so - if you'd caught him at age 20, ALL of his actions and thoughts were Roger-centered and not really concerned with anybody else.

This also carries over into his sense of humour: Roger will say or do most anything that will make him look cool and give everybody a laugh. That includes humour which is sometimes very much at the expense of others. He's not much for practical jokes (though if one is suggested, he'll be glad to go along) and is more a verbal humour kind of guy. If you have a horrible nickname, Roger quite likely came up with it. If you were taunted over something that made everybody but you laugh, that was probably Roger's doing, too.

He's intelligent, as one might expect from a Ravenclaw. He reads for pleasure, though not to the voracious degree that some of the others do. He likes to go out and party, and on the usual Friday Pub Night he can be found having drinks with Oliver Wood.

Roger is currently at a turning point in his life. He's had an extremely checkered romantic past; a trail of broken hearts and one night stands stretches from his last year at Hogwarts right on up to about six months ago. He's had maybe one or two proper girlfriends, but never for long. Roger has always claimed to not the be "the relationship type", because he was pretty sure that if he tried he'd just ruin it. He's just been dumped for the first time, hoewver, and it is rattling his cage in a big way.

Childhood:
Roger's family is Welsh (from Powys) but Roger himself is a Shropshire lad. He was born and grew up in Ludlow. He's got only a touch of a Welsh accent from his parents, showing up only in certain words or in certain phrasing choices, sounding mostly like a usual West Midlander. If you asked Roger, though, he'd just tell you he's from the Marches. That's the answer that he feels best sums up his history and ancestry.

Roger had a fairly normal, happy childhood. He's an only child (as one might expect, from the volume of self-centeredness he contains), moderately spoiled by his middle-class parents. He grew up confident and athletic, and started Hogwarts ready to make friends and influence people.

Once at Hogwarts, Roger continued to do well for himself. He was sorted into Ravenclaw, which solidified his already reasonably high opinion of his own intelligence. While there, he became close friends with Penelope Clearwater. She was a 3rd year when he started, and took a liking to the plucky little firstie who liked to make her laugh. She remains to this day one of the few women he genuinely likes and respects. They have never had any romantic entanglement of any sort.

It was largely because of Penny's affection for him that Roger became friends with Oliver Wood and Percy Weasley. Despite being younger, he was just as goal-driven as the two Gryffindors. Roger pursued Quidditch excellence and high marks in classes with relentless enthusiasm, and it made him fit in well with the equally obsessive Gryffindor boys.

It was in the middle of fourth year, though, that Roger Davies discovered his one true love: The ladies. Some boys, when they find that girls are suddenly interested in them, start to panic. Roger, on the other hand, took to it like a duck to water. He got the new Chaser position on Ravenclaw's quidditch team that year, too, and that expanded the pathways that his charming smirk and sassy attitude had opened for him. Roger started training himself to be a ladies' man just as determinedly as he'd worked at keeping good marks and winning Quidditch matches.

By 6th year, he was pretty good at all three (though with Penelope graduated and her good influence only available through the post), he wasn't nearly so well-behaved as he'd been). He became Captain of the Quidditch team, went to the Yule Ball with the highly prized Fleur Delacour (even though he looked like an idiot while he was with her), and in general did his best to get on in school despite his three best friends graduating. With Roger's amount of charm and flair, it wasn't too hard. He mostly ran with the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, during the two years that for once, Ravenclaw Quidditch players had a reputation for being a little bit wild and not nearly so studious and serious as their house stereotype would lead one to believe.

While Roger typically had older friends, his girlfriends all tended to be a year or two younger. The less-charitable of Hogwarts have suggested that this could be because he found them easier to manipulate. This is only partially true—Roger isn't quite so Machiavellan as all that. However, he has tended to like to feel like the person in control of a relationship. He also has something of an addiction to being adored: Roger wants the girls he's with to realize just how lucky they are to have attracted his attention. Girls a year or two younger are more likely to deliver that sort of worship.

Seventh year passed uneventfully, as far as Roger personally was concerned. He dated some girls, slept with some others, blew away the NEWTs that he needed to, and by the end of the year he'd already secured a writing job with Wizarding Sports Magazine. Upon graduation, he got a tiny studio flat in London and a whole bunch of crazy sports to cover. He achieved his goal of getting the Quidditch beat by the end of his first year with the magazine - he really is a good sports writer, and Roger has a gift for knowing what people will want to read. It's the same ability that allowed him to be popular in school: Roger knows his audience. He spent a year doing the Quidditch circuit for WSM, and then got offered the column at the more prestigious Quidditch Monthly. Roger took the offer without hesitation and spent a year working regularly for Quidditch Monthly.

War involvements:
When the war began in earnest in fall of '98, Roger's father became one of its casualties. Rhys Davies was killed during a terrorist/Death Eater attack on a Tornadoes match, one that Roger was covering and had gotten him tickets to. Shortly after, Roger became one of the numerous youth who volunteered to help fight with the Ministry. He took a Leave of Absence from Quidditch Monthly, and fought for the Good Guys. It was very important to him that he do something to avenge his father's death and help to destroy the people responsible for it. He supported the Ministry in their work against Voldie and considers himself to have done his part. When the war ended, there was no longer really any need for him in that line of work, so Roger returned to writing. He discovered that he could make as much money just doing his one column for QM and freelancing the rest as he could writing regularly for one magazine, so that's what he's been doing since early 2001. He has a nice flat, a five year old border collie named Ripley, and an endless string of exes.

Now, though, Roger's starting to feel the need to settle down, at least a little. He's been thinking about his father a lot over the past six months, and if he was the kind of man his father would be proud of. He's just gotten bored with the pretty girls who have no substance. He's even gotten bored with random sex; apparently it's just not all that much fun any more. For the first time in his life, Roger actually wants a girlfriend. Of course, he's managed to alienate most every woman in wizard-dom somehow, so we'll see how all that goes.

Height: 6'1"
Distinguishing marks/features? A few battle scars here and there (he thinks they make him look rather manly and dashing.)

Roger's Exes:
Lavender Brown - still feels bad about this one even though it was YEARS ago, because he was her first shag and it was just not all that good.
Khushi - Fun, but so hung up on her studies. Moved on quickly.
Debbie Runcorn - parted on good terms, no worries there.
Dawn - a great shag with a killer arse, but did not deliver sufficient adoration
Wendy Roper - they were basically just accessories for each other, and still consider each other good friends.
Laura - actually dumped HIM. Roger figures she's a lesbian.
Patty Stimpson - dated for a few months before things got too serious for Roger's comfort level.
Jamie - totally his ideal look, but too weird for his image. Shagged her a few times and moved on (a bit reluctantly).
Kat Bundy - Shagged for a while 'til she used the word "boyfriend", and that was it for them.
Lari - He loved it when she started talking French. When she started talking marriage on the other hand...
Liz Spinks - one of Roger's favourite on-and-off shags. Not an -ex- per se, since they never had anything one would call a -relationship-, but there she is nonetheless.
